The Ratings Revolution

“If you could do me a favor, leave a rating and review for my podcast on iTunes!” A very reasonable request from almost every podcaster out there. Unfortunately, when a host makes this request, there are some who will want to oblige by quickly jumping onto iTunes, giving 5 stars, and leaving a comment like “Love this show! You nailed it!” The kicker is, they have never even listened to an episode!

So, what we, as podcast consumers are left with are falsely inflated stats, disingenuous reviews, and no trusted forum for real podcast ratings. Friends, I think it’s high time for a ratings revolution…and the revolution starts with YOU. […]

Instead of the colorful, descriptive boxes lining the shelves, all you find are plain brown boxes with price tags and a little note saying “The box of cereal is perfect for you!” It would be pretty hard to figure out which box was actually the one you wanted, right?

The same is true when you are pitching yourself as a guest expert without a one sheet. How is a host supposed to say YES without getting a good picture of who you are? A one sheet does just that. Its a one-page document that describes you as the great guest you are! It showcases your expertise in a concise and attractive way to let podcast hosts know who you are and what you have to offer their audience. If you’ve never seen a one sheet, here’s mine: […]

I’m Not Perfect & Neither Are You

I filmed this episode in a moment of not feeling perfect whatsoever! My day was thrown off by the snowstorm and at 1:30pm I still had not opened my email. Instead of putting make up on, getting Nathan in front of the TV and pretending my day was sailing smoothly, I turned on the camera to bring you this very important lesson: I’m not perfect, and neither are you, and that is okay! […]
