In today’s episode we’re going to talk about why download stats don’t matter. Stay tuned.
Hey everyone thanks for joining me for today’s episode of Interview Connections TV. I’m your host Jessica Rhodes and I’m here to help you rock the podcast from both sides of the mic. In today’s episode we’re talking about why download stats don’t matter. First of all, a lot of people want to go on podcasts that have a big number of download stats, the biggest audience, because bigger is better right? No. Not in podcasting. As a podcast guest, you want to be in front of your exact target market. You want to be in front of the most number of ideal clients or customers for your business. That may or may not be on a show with a high number of download stats.
I tell this story all the time. My good friend Corey Coats is the co-founder and co-owner of Podfly Productions, a podcast production company. They’re very good they produce my show. He was on my podcast. That show was aired several months ago. Right now, it has around 300 downloads. Not really that many in the grand scheme of things. Lots of shows have 5000, 10,000 downloads. However, because Coery was in front of his target market, he was talking to people in my audience who are podcasters. He’s got a lot of paying customers at Podfly who heard him on my show. He can go on a podcast with 10,000 downloads, but if it’s not an audience of podcasters, it’ may not result in the same number of paying customers or really high quality leads to his business. Don’t just be looking at shows with a high number of downloads. Go on shows where you’re going to be a strong relationship with that podcast host and you’re going to be in front of your exact target market.
I am Jessica Rhodes, here to help you rock the podcast from both sides of the mic. We’ll see you next Tuesday.
