Welcome to Interview Connections TV. I’m your Host, Jessica Rhodes. I work with a lot of entrepreneurs who use podcasting as a way to grow their business, either hosting their own show or getting interviewed as a guest expert on other podcasts. One of the hardest parts about doing these kinds of marketing strategies is that it takes a long time to see a return on investment, and we don’t always get the level of engagement that we’re looking for. We don’t always hear from the people that are listening to our interviews and listening to our podcasts. Sometimes we just want to stop because we think, “It’s not working. People aren’t buying. People are not engaging with us, and it’s just not worth the time and money that I’m putting into it.”
This episode is to remind you that marketing is long term, and that podcasting is not direct response marketing. You don’t podcast to get people to sign up with your products and services right away. You podcast both as a Guest Expert and a Host to build a relationship with your following. I have been podcasting for a couple of years now, and people are just starting to really take action.
Recently I had a client sign up, hadn’t had a conversation with her, but she opted for a six month package with us, and when I talked to her, I realized that she had been listening to my podcasts, consuming all of my content. Both of my shows, the Podcast Producers, Rhodes to Success, she had been listening to me on other shows, and I had no idea that she was a listener until she actually signed up.
Remember this, buyers buy when they’re ready to buy, so if you aren’t hearing from your listeners, you’re not hearing from your audience, don’t stop- because it takes time. People need to get to know you. They need to really experience your content for a long time before they actually take action. Don’t stop. Don’t give up. Stick with it because people are there listening to you, reading your blog, watching your videos, and when they are ready, they will sign up. I am Jessica Rhodes, I’m here to help you rock the podcast from both sides of the mic and we will talk to you next Tuesday.
