About the Client

Jon MacDonald is founder and President of The Good, a conversion rate optimization firm that helps brands convert more of their existing website traffic into buyers. Jon regularly contributes content on conversion optimization to publications like Entrepreneur and Inc. He knows how to get visitors to take action.

The team at The Good have made a practice of advising brands on how to see e-commerce sales double or more. Jon volunteers for several causes throughout the Pacific Northwest and is an active committee member of industry associations and peer groups such as Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO).

Goals for Podcast Interviews

Jon’s number one goal is to create new business from podcast guesting. He also aimed to leverage his interviews to generate more content, and repurpose that content for marketing materials. Additionally, Jon wanted to increase his profile as a leader in his industry.

Strategy

Jon’s target audience consists of established eCommerce businesses, and people with in-house optimization roles. We avoided pitching Jon to shows that targeted eCommerce solopreneurs and Amazon sellers, and instead pitched him to shows focused on eCommerce growth and top eCommerce brands. Jon found success by giving out his personal email as his CTA!

Results

After 6 months of podcast guesting, Jon found a dozen direct and valuable leads, saw an increase in his website’s organic traffic, and grew his email list. After one interview, Jon was invited to speak at YouTube HQ and gave an hour long talk about converting traffic. This speaking engagement put Jon in front of great brands and qualified leads and increased his personal branding as an expert in his field!
