About the Client
As the Founder of Busy Bee Advisors, Melissa Broughton brings joy to every part of her work. She knows a little humor can go a long way when educating and encouraging clients through complex, often frustrating bookkeeping situations. Melissa’s background in corporate accounting and auditing complements her desire to serve as a “financial translator” to help small business owners feel confident in their financial decisions. Melissa and her husband Eric, a tax professional, co-host a popular podcast, The Real Buzz: Taking The Sting Out Of Taxes.
Goals
Melissa’s goal when investing in Interview Connections was to increase sales in her bookkeeping and accounting firm, Busy Bee Advisors, book speaking engagements, and increase sales of her book.
Strategy
Our strategy with Melissa is to book her on targeted shows speaking to business owners and entrepreneurs. When asked what she believes has attributed to her success with podcast guesting, Melissa shared that talking about how the tax system is rigged effectively captures the attention of her ideal clients. She is also very mindful of making sure the interviews are full of value, and that the host and their audience do not feel like her interview was a giant sales pitch. When the host asks her to share how listeners can find her online, she offers the listeners some free downloadable content as well as their company’s website.
Results
After only 3 interviews were published, Melissa and her husband/business partner booked 15-20 consultations with prospective clients who heard their interviews, and closed several new clients bringing a healthy return on their investment in podcast guesting with Interview Connections.
