After receiving this message in several places in the past few days, I feel like I’ve been called to post a blog about how important it is to take care of yourself, especially as an entrepreneur!
As I’m writing this, I’m in my ninth month of pregnancy, so physically I NEED to take care of myself. Taking naps, eating well and staying active is good not just for me, but for the health of my baby.
Even when you’re not pregnant, as an entrepreneur it is so important that you focus on your mental, emotional and physical well being if you want to succeed in your business.
As a content creator; a podcaster, blogger or video marketer, it’s extremely hard to mask any stress or anxiety that you have due to lack of self care.
Here are some of my tips for taking care of yourself:
- Eat well and cut down on the sugar and carbs. I learned last year when I worked with two fitness coaches how horrible carbs are (breads, pastas, chips, etc.). I don’t follow a strict diet but the less carbs and sugar I eat the better I feel!
- Stay active and exercise. These days (meaning, 9 months pregnant and all) getting to the gym is hard because just carrying 25 pounds around my belly is a work out in and of itself. However, I cannot wait until I can get back to the gym running and lifting weights! It fuels you for a productive workday.
- Turn off your computer, iPhone and iPad with your family. Spend time with your loved ones without checking in every 5 minutes. Go on a date with your spouse and leave your phone in the car! I read today “a babysitter is a lot cheaper than a divorce.” Don’t let your passion and love for your business become a wall between you and your family.
Most of my blogs are specifically related to business, podcasting and entrepreneurship. However, without this self-care work, all the rest is not worth it!
